Borderlands 2 Inspired NOTD

Barry M Lemon Ice Cream, Rimmel Orange your life and 17 mini red (nameless)

I thought I would do a quick NOTD before I pop out because I haven't posted in a while.
I've been having a bit of trouble with inspiration lately and I have done loads of different mani's but got so frustrated with them not going right, I removed them straight away.
Then I decided I wanted to do a simple mani based around Borderlands 2. It was also my first ever gradient and I thought it looked really cute so I wanted to show it to the world, so to speak.

The gradient background was based on the background of this Borderlands 2 image.

(source)
And the logo on my thumb was inspired by this image.

(source)

Sorry for the lack of clean up on the thumb, I'm in a bit of a rush and the lighting wasn't very good and fading fast. What do you think? Have you done any game inspired mani's lately? or have you been playing Borderlands 2?

Hope you enjoy the rest of the evening.

What's in my September GlossyBox designed by Maggi Li

I meant to do this post the day my GlossyBox arrived but it's still pretty hectic around here and because I waited so long, the lighting hasn't been very good today, a little bit grey. I really need to look into making a light box. Anyway, pictures are ok, so here we go.

This is only my 3rd GlossyBox ever, so when I heard it was going to be a limited edition designed by Maggi Li, I got very excited. Then the box arrived and I was very disappointed. Not in a bitchy, cancel my subscription kind of way, but disappointed all the same. The products that I had received in my 2 previous boxes has been so much better.

Then my disappointment was fuelled even more when GlossyBox released their blog post about all the different products that went into the boxes this month (view GlossyBox blog post here). 2 of the items in my box were sample types that I receive for free on a monthly basis, where as other customers had received what looks to me like full sized products.

The box itself, is gorgeous. When opening it, the prettiness of this added to my excitement. I will have to find somewhere that I can use this box and have it on display. Maggi Li did a really fantastic job with this.

Inside the box hadn't changed, so it has the usual info card, pink ribbon and black tissue paper. I did think that the ribbon and tissue paper would have the Maggi Li design on it as well because i have seen photos of previous special editions which have had the theme throughout the box.

The front of the info card had the Maggi Li theme on it.

Now the info card has, for obvious reasons, stayed the same. It has all the useful info available on there for each product, along with prices of full sized products. Handy to have to know what value is in your box.

Moving on to the products I received.

Lady Gaga Fame perfume sample: An opulent, crushed floral fragrance that's black like the soul of fame but transparent one airborne. RRP: £25 for 30ml. The sample I received is 1.2ml

I was quite happy to receive perfume samples. Who doesn't love having loads of different smellies around so that you can use a different one every day. My issue, these are the same types of samples I get for free from Boots Samples or just off Brand websites. I received 5 samples of perfume the week before, for free, (Dueto Parfums and Guerlain Paris) and 2 samples for hubby as well. But the main stumbling block of this product, is that the perfume sample, will not spray. It doesn't even work so I cant smell it. :(

Rodial Glamoxy Snake Serum and 5 minute facial:Glamoxy snake serum is a revolutionary product with instantly visible results, helping to reduce the appearances of frown lines and wrinkles. 5 minute facial is a triple action resurfacing gommage clay mask. RRP: Snake serum £29 for 10x1ml. RRP: 5 minute facial £10.95 for 10x1ml.

This is what I was really really disappointed by the fact that I received sachets. This is the type of things that you get from a magazine, or again when a free sample is sent to you. Plus, in my first box, there were sachets  as a bonus after the 5 other products in the box. So when you look at the fact that some people got full sized products and others got sachets that are normally free, it's not good. Sad face.

Now the moany bit is out of the way, onto the  goooooood stuff.

I'm going to start with my favourite from this months box.

Vichy Idealia Day Care Cream: A smoothing and illuminating day cream that smoothens skin's texture and improves complexion radiance. RRP: £25 for 50ml. The sample I received is 15ml.

Also if you go to the Semple and Semple Vichy section and enter code Vichy20 when purchasing, you will get 20% off.

I love this product. the cream is not too thick and goes onto the skin smoothly. It smells divine. The best thing is how it makes my skin feel. I have very dry skin and even with the best of the products I have tried before, I would still have dry patches, but with Vichy, I felt the difference instantly. Today is the second day I have used it and my whole face, including my problem areas, still feel lush and smooth. I am in love with this and will deffo be buying or asking Santa for this.

This lovely little bottle is Maghrabian Hair Oil: Nutrition, hydration, conditioning, softness, shine and long-term vitality. Hair absorbs the oil quickly, instantly improving it's appearance. RRP: £24 for 100ml. The sample I received is 10ml.

I haven't really had much of a chance to try this out, but weirdly enough, and don't judge me, I have been sniffing it. A lot. My hair has been in a ponytail for the last 2 days and so I only tried it on the mass of dangling hair at the front of my face. It worked. It definitely does what it says on the tin. However, I will reserve judgement until I have used it on my hair properly.

The oil is kind of in the middle of an oil/gel. It spreads easily in the hands and smoothes evenly through the hair. I think this may, may, be a re-buy.

And finally,

Balance me Wonder Eye Cream: A triple action cream designed to soothe tired eyes, smooth away dark shadows and reduce the appearance of fine lines. RRP: £20 for 15 ml. The sample I received is 7ml.

Go to the Balance Me website to receive £5 off any of their full size extra care products by entering code GLOSSY5.

I honestly haven't had the chance to try this yet. I currently used Garnier caffein eye roll on for my under eye luggage, so I will try this soon. I haven't smelt it either. I'm afraid to because of the pointy nozzle, I'll probably impale my nose on it somehow.

Well that's my September GlossyBox, very pretty box, some good products and some really crappy ones. I will be doing my surveys on GlossyBox to let them know about the products, oh and to get me GlossyDots.

Let me know if you received anything better in your GlossyBox and if you were one of those who received a full sizer, did you receive sample sachets alongside that?

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

September Lust List of Wonders

Hey peeps. Sorry I've been a bit slack with posting again. It's been a busy few days and Hubby goes in for surgery tomorrow so may continue to be a bit dotty for a while. Sooooooooo, I thought I would do this months Lust List.

I'm a bit ashamed of my poorly put together montage of lusted after items (above), it was a bit rushed to get the post up tonight but it kinda works, doesn't it?. Its a little bit all over the place like me. :)

I know I am a bit weird in this, but thank the stars summer is finally coming to an end. It's not that I hate the summer, it's more that I hate being hot. Autumn and Winter are definitely my time of the year, I like when it's cold, because it's so much easier to warm up than it is to cool down. Plus, I love all the winter fashions. Warm, cuddly knits are my fave.

So that's why I am starting with this item first.

Spirit Hoods

(source)
Firstly, please excuse the half naked woman.

I LOVE Spirit Hoods. The proper official ones over at Spirit Hoods are absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately, as usual, I have taste slightly beyond my means. The Brown Bear one, pictured above, is deffo my favourite. All fluffy and warm, with tartan lining and just the right amount of quirky. They are perfect.

Last year I wanted one so much that I bought a cheaper version on eBay from this seller. It is still really nice, and one of my favourite pieces from my winter wardrobe, but you just can't beat the official ones. You will probably see an image of the one I own on here in the next couple of months.

Moustache Necklace

(source)
Another cute and quirky item. Surprised? No, I thought not. I really like the quirkiness of this and since Movember will be arriving before we know it, and not being able to grow a moustache myself, I thought this the next best thing.

This is another eBay item (i <3 eBay), and the seller yuhoshop, has some other really cute laser cut items, ranging from Harry Potter to Batman and Barbie, all at a really low price. Check them out if you like laser cuts as much as I do.

Wonder Woman Ring
(source)

I had to get Wonder Woman in here somewhere :). I like this ring a lot, it's £7 with £1 postage, and as far as I am aware, its a more affordable version of a very similar ring, which, for the life of m e, i can't remember where or when i have seen the more expensive one and couldn't find it anywhere.

Again, the seller extremelargeness has some really cute and quirky items up for sale. I could honestly spend a fortune on these types of eBay stores. I'm not the only one surely?

'Follow Me' tights

(source)
Oh my gosh, how lush are these? I'm not really a wearer of skirts, but if I had a pair of these, I might just start.

These are from seller tattoosocks on Etsy, who I really do recommend checking out if you like these, they have some more gorgeous designs.

I haven't yet bought anything off Etsy, I love trawling through and adding hundreds of things to my Favourites list, but because it is American, I'm a bit cautious because of customs charges. But I would be penniless if I did have the courage to buy on there. I will one day. Buy stuff i mean, not be penniless, hopefully. ((cringe))

Warehouse 13 Tesla Artisan Hero Prop

(source)
I've said it many times before, ThinkGeek really know how to steal a geek girls heart. When they sent me an email that showed this image, I nearly wet myself. Then I saw the price and cried liked a baby, not really though (I did).

I love my sci-fi shows and Warehouse 13 is way up there at the top of my faves list, so at $1,195 for this Tesla prop, I will have to skip this and just keep watching. A Farnsworth replica would be amazing to have, for cheap of course. Or even better, a fold over Farnsworth case for my Blackberry. That would make me giddy happy.

Kawaii Nail Lacquer Polish Collections

(source)

(source)

As you will know by now, I am a sucker for Glitter nail polishes, these have to be 2 of the most gorgeous sets I have ever seen. Both sets are from Kawaii Nail lacquer's shop on Etsy. All polishes in the store are handmade and incredible. My favourites, if I had to choose from these collections are Captain America and Robin, but that's with a gun to my head. I would love to have all of them.

I actually urge you to check out the Etsy store housing these beauties here and also check out another of my faves from here, The Harry Potter House Colours collection.

Well, that's everything for now. Hopefully, I should receive my GlossyBox at some point this week, so will have a 'What's in My Box?' post soon.

Hope you all had a good Monday (I know, probably not, it's Monday.)

:)x

All images in this post have been linked back to their original sources. I never have or will intend to steal anyone's photographic work or take any credit for it. Please click 'source' underneath each image to return to the OP.

NOTD: Aqua Glitterinos

So I thought I would do a NOTD post. I'm loving glitters at the moment and have decided I need all of the Barry M glitters.

I actually did these nails on Friday but forgot to take pictures so you will probably notice there are a few ragged edges, but we got a few minutes of sunlight so i wanted to see how well they would come out in pictures.

I wanted to use the Barry M Black Multi Glitter on every finger but my ring finger because the multi glitter looks so pretty. When I applied it and it was still wet, it looked lush. Unfortunately, when it dried, not only had it dried really gritty but the glitter didn't look like glitter, it just looked like the polish had bubbled horribly  all over. I was so disappointed as this is the first time I have really tried to use this without anything over it. It looked gross, so I layered the Barry M Aqua Glitter over the top. It saved the day.

See how gorgeous the glitter looks in the bottle?

Barry M Aqua Glitter has loads of small pieces of glitter in a clear polish with a smaller amount of larger pieces. I can't fault this polish. The glitter spread beautifully and the end result is stunning. So on my ring finger, I used a base of Rimmel 60 seconds Sky High and layered the Barry M Aqua Glitter on top.

This was the result.

I took loads of pics in the light to try and show you just how lush the glitter looks, especially over the black, but they didn't quite do it justice.

Don't get me wrong, it still looks really pretty.

But then I realised, it looked better in the shade.

I really do love this combination and although the pictures still haven't really done them justice, I think you can still appreciate them.

I really hope a sale comes up soon so I can fill my basket with Barry M glitters, I think I may have a new obsession approaching.

Boohoo £50 Fashion Voucher Blogger Challenge

I've been feeling very 'meh' lately and a little under the weather so haven't really had much motivation to post anything. Then I saw that fashionvouchers.com are doing a blogger style challenge to win £50 of BooHoo vouchers and just had to take part.

So far, I have only done one of these blogger style challenges, and that was my House of Fraser style challenge. I really enjoyed doing it and love looking through all the clothes I can't afford. So I jumped (not literally) at the chance to try this one. And who wouldnt love £50 of BooHoo vouchers?

Taken from Fashion Vouchers Website- 'To celebrate BooHoo.com making it into our Top 10 Fashion Money Saving Websites list, we have launched a new blogger challenge to find the best outfit for £50 or under at BooHoo.com. Your outfit can include whatever you like, a dress, shoes, jewellery, accessories and whatever else you can find as long as the total cost does not exceed £50. There are four £50 BooHoo.com fashion vouchers up for grabs for the best four fashion outfits, which means if you win you can buy your creation!'

There were so many different outfits I wanted to do, but it seems I may have quite expensive taste, and I couldn't quite keep my amount below £50. In fact, I was nowhere near it.Then I managed to get an outfit to £48.

There are a few different styles/trends I like to stick to, and one of them is Geek Chic. So this is what I have gone for.

Samia Stud Leggings   Neldra Viva La Geek Vest   Gracie Suedette Buckle Wedge

I love cute slogan like t-shirts and vests and so this Viva La Geek vest was perfect for me. Then, of course it has to be paired with some kickass leggings. Has to be leggings. I was going to go for some wet look leggings for the sexy geek chic look, but these caught my eye. The stud detail all over the thigh looks gorgeous, kind of a rock chick look, which I know is moving away from original style, but geek girls rock too ya know.

Onto the shoes. Ah the shoes. As you may know, I like my shoes high. Well high but stable. And for this outfit, I really wanted a bright pop of colour. On the website, the colour is marked as blue, but I would say these are more of a turquoise colour. Which is one of my favourite colours, and these shoes are lush. I want them. They shall be mine. Maybe. Oh money Gods, make me rich so i can buy hundreds of pairs of shoooooess. *ahem*

So this is the point I really got stuck. Accessories. I like accessories, well, love accessories. But the trouble is, I tend to like accessories that are slightly more on the quirky side than Boohoo accessories. So this took me a while. 37 minutes in fact. Just to pick accessories.

I decided to add one accessory to match the rock chick look of the leggings and one to match the geek chic vest.

Welcome the triple row spike bracelet. I did initially pick the spike necklace but thought that would be a bit over the top for my look so the bracelet was just the right level of awesome I was looking for.

The glasses are a bit of a cheat for me. I wear glasses 24/7 or I'm blind and my glasses have the geek chic thick black rims (by choice) I love these glasses, and they are a perfect addition to my little outfit here because I would definitely be wearing them.

I'm not sure if this is in line with any trends this A/W, but this is always on trend in my wardrobe. I hope you like my look.

If you want to enter, here's how-

1. Head over to BooHoo.com and start piecing together an outfit, making sure you do not exceed your £50 budget (no student discounts or other voucher codes can be used to help you stretch this budget).

Beautiful Blogger Award

This is my first one of these, and i may not get it 100% right. I was so shocked to get a nomination but very happy :)

Review: Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

Pic taken quickly on my phone, poo quality noted, too lazy to get camera.

I love Transformers. Who doesn't? They are all sorts of awesome sauce, especially Bumblebee. So when Hubby got hold of a copy of Fall of Cybertron on PS3, I had to attempt it.

So this is more of my opinion on the game, without giving away the story or any spoilers.

The first thing I will say is that visually, the game is absolutely stunning. After the initial tutorial type level, the game boots into the opening credits and an FMV about how Cybertron fell, and it looks amazing.

NOTD: Every grey cloud has a silver lining

Ok, this is not quite the awesome sauce filled post I had planned, but I do have one coming. I just wanted to post a nail of the day because I quite like how my nails look today.

I love grey, don't ask me why, because I have absolutely no idea, but it does in turn mean that I adore grey nail polish. So I was quite disappointed to realise that I only currently have 2 grey polishes in my collection right now, Rimmel 60 seconds Grey Matter and Collection Angel Wings. Rimmel Grey Matter is what I have used today. This polish applies really beautifully and I have never had any problems with it. It also helps that it dries super quick.

Another thing I love, is stamping. I only came across stamping a few weeks before I started this blog, and I love, love, love it. I find it really easy to do and love that it looks like I have spent hours doing really intricate designs when I haven't, sometimes I get very lazy with my nails, so this helps them not look pants. Last night was one of those lazy nights.

I used Barry M Foil Effects Silver to do the stamp. I don't actually own any proper stamping polishes, and I find that the best normal polishes for stamping are the Barry M special effects.

I used this stamping plate

Blue September

I know this isn't my normal type of post, but bear with me. I think it is really important to get these types of things out there and what better way to do it than posting on blogs. I don't know about your men but mine refuses to go to the Doctors constantly and its like giving a dog a bath trying to get him to get a check up. I think awareness is key.

Technic Carnival

Yay, I finally got it, Technic Carnival nail polish. For the last few months, this nail polish has been my Eleanor (movie reference ftw). I first saw it online a few months ago and loved the look at it, so of course I googled for swatches of this, and I fell in love with it even more.

I know I am way behind on releases of nail polishes, but it's more a case of trying to get my bearings and get used to doing posts and remembering that I have to put stuff on here. It's also trying new types of polishes. Although I love glitter polishes, I have never quite got around to using one with large pieces of glitter.

Anyway, back to this beauty. I then saw it in my local Original Factory Shop but because they had loads, I thought I would go back and get it another time. Well, when we went and traded in some games the other day and had £2 left over, I had to go get it. Excite mode activated when I realised they had been reduced to £1. I did only buy one, just in case I really didn't like it.
