OPI Bond Girls Mini Collection

I've had these for a little while now and they are another Valued Opinions balance well spent.
The textured polish is definitely something that OPI do really well in my opinion and this being my second set of mini Liquid Sands (see Mariah Carey Mini Collection here) I'm still not tired of them.

What are we waiting for, lets get onto the polishes. Click the jump to see them.

Superhero Sunday: Na Na Na Na Na Na Batman

*Batman ring from eBay- here for 99p with 99p postage.

This Batman Mani had so much potential but ended up being somewhere between awesome and disappointing.

I found some cute Batman decals on eBay and knew what I wanted to do with them and the idea stuck with me when they arrived. So, I set about doing it. For the base colour, I used Barry M Lemon Ice Cream
(again? I know, I'm completely in love with this yellow) For the 'Bat-Head' I used Barry M Black and a little bit of striping tape just to help get the shape of the ears right, and Barry M Nail Art Pens for details on the thumb.

That bit went well, the next few bits kinda sucked.

The decals were listed as water decals, and, when it comes to certain things, I'm still a bit of a noob, so when they arrived backed by brown paper card and had a weird texture, I didn't really think anything of it. I cut them out to shape and dipped the first one in water, and of course, the image smudged off, because they weren't water decals were they? They were stickers.

No matter what I tried, they just seemed really visible. One of the reason was because they weren't transparent around the design, it was a horrible, cloudy transparent, so you know, not transparent at all. And as you can probably see in the picture above, the crinkles in the stickers were still visible after smoothing down and 2 coats of Seche Vite (you could still feel them too).

The stickers are a weird, thick, gummy type sticker and they are just not good for nail art, so I highly recommend not buying decals/stickers that come on brown paper/card backing.

Overall though, I do love this mani and I might try it again minus the horrid decals, I did get some compliments on them when I had to rush out to town that day, that always cheers me up.

I hope you liked my first Superhero Sunday, hopefully quite a few more to come.
Now get outside and enjoy that sunshine UK-ers.

Born Pretty Store Holo #11

The sun has made an extra long appearance recently here in the UK. I have mentioned this before, but I'm really not that much of a fan of the summer, I hate being hot and not being able to cool down easily. The one thing that has made this slightly more bearable, is the Born Pretty Holo Polish I am going to show you.

I got the chance to have a Born Pretty Store Holo Polish in their recent giveaway. I was overjoyed when I got the email to say that I was going to be receiving one. I chose #11, which is a really nice plum purple Holo.

Holo's have been one of those things I have admired from afar. I got GOSH Holographic Hero a while ago (see that here and here) and this made me want more, but because Holo's are quite desirable, they have always been out of my price range. But not anymore. The Born Pretty Store Holo's are only $5.59 which works out at about £3.74, and with their free shipping this is a proper bargain.

I'm not sure what I was expecting with the polish tbh, I did think that maybe, because they were so cheap, they wouldn't have a very strong holo in them. Yeah, I was wrong, waaaay wrong.

I'll stop blabbering and show you the abundance of photos. I ventured into the back garden to take these in direct sunlight to make sure you could see them really well.

This was the best photo I could get to show off the holo in different 'angles' on my nails. Click the jump to see more photos.

Spongebob Squarepants Nails

Right, I'm back for now, I've a bit of a bad time over the last few weeks because of an episode of my long term (still undiagnosed) health issue, but I'm on yet another new pill, which seems to be doing a good job, so hopefully, I'll be around on a regular basis again.

I don't know about other parents out there, but I find that aside from the obvious, one of the most awesome things about being a parent (alongside testing toys out at Christmas) is that we get to watch kids tv, and no-one can get judgey about it. This is how I discovered my love for Spongebob Squarepants. My son loves Spongebob and I've lost count of how many DVDs he owns and how many times he has watched them.

Lets face it though, Spongebob is a legend, so when I saw these Spongebob facial expression water decals on RLR Creations eBay shop, I had to own them. This isn't the first lot of decals I have bought from here, so I know they are good quality and work really well.

I was really impressed with their overall service as well, they are in the United States (here I am in the UK *waves* Helloooo) each purchase arrived with me, within 3 days. How fantastic is that? An idea of how fast they are, on the same day, I purchased some decals from RLR in the US and some decals from another seller on eBay who was based in East Sussex in the UK. The RLR decals arrived on day 3 after the purchase and the East Sussex decals came 4 days after the RLR decals.

Plus, they are a fab price- including postage the price comes to £2.52, and you get 20 decals. They have loads of designs, so go check them out on their eBay shop here.

Right, I'm sure you have had enough of my blabbering now, here is how they turned out.

How cute are these?

The decals are transparent bar the face design and so I used Barry M Lemon Ice Cream (my favourite yellow polish) and popped the decals on.

The designs are really bright and my other hand had 5 different faces on them so plenty of choice. The decals went on really easily, I did have to smooth them out quite a bit in certain places but this is because my nails are very curved, I added a top coat of Seche Vite and they were perfect.

I'm in love with this design, and my friend who doesn't even like Spongebob, loved how cute my nails were that she went on and bought the Spongebob decals and a few more from RLR.

What do you think of them?
