Happy Halloween! Terrifyingly Cute Zombies

Happy Halloween!

Aside form actually managing to do some Halloween nails this year, we have pretty much failed at Halloween 2014. We haven't done any decorations, which makes me sad, and we stupidly left getting pumpkins until this morning, and everywhere in our town is sold out, I'm so gutted, so no pumpkin carving for us.

So these are my cute zombie type patchwork nails. I love green nail polish but it gets everywhere, is a pain in the ass to clean up without getting a yellowy green tinge on cuticles and stains my nails no matter how hard I try to prevent it,

This green is a Barry M Superdrug Limited Edition from last year, the red is Ciate Red Hot Chilli, The pink for the brains is Barry M Gelly Dragon Fruit and I used Barry M Black Nail Art Pen for the stitch details.

I also tried it with a coat of OPI Matte topcoat and it looked pretty awesome too.

I had a few more mani's planned out and I might still do them but the temptation is there to start planning out my Christmas mani's straight away, some of the towns and cities around here have already started putting up their Christmas decorations.

Back to Halloween though, what are you wearing on your nails and are you dressing up tonight?

The Lacquer Legion - After Dark

It has been a while since I have taken part in one of the Lacquer Legion themes, but I wanted to start getting involved again as I love having to come up with an interpretation to the theme.

Now I only remembered (prompted by seeing Giovanna's post on Gio Nails) that today was Lacquer Legion day and the theme was After Dark.

I decided to go for some simple ghosts, the faces done with just a dotting tool and black and white polish. Of course, being Halloween week and the theme being AFTER Dark, they had to glow.....

..... and here they are in their beautiful glowiness. This was using the BYS glow in the dark top coat that I used for my Pumpkin Faces. I managed to work quickly with the camera and the UV torch to get this awesome glowing photo.

If you want to take part in the monthly Lacquer Legion themes, you can Like their Facebook page to make sure you get the prompt posts.

Don't forget to search #LLAfterDark on social media to see what other lovelies have done for this theme.

Halloweenie Meanies

Halloweenie Meanies is my second Halloween mani this year. These came about after I saw (and bought) a packet of googly eyes in Poundland, I knew that with these, I wanted to do a cutesy kind of monster mani. Of course, I had to give them a collective name and so I called them Halloweenie Meanies, I now expect it to become a massive brand, with toys and clothes and toothbrushes, yes, toothbrushes, you know you have made it big when you get your own brand of toothbrush.

Only a few colours used here: Barry M BLE 2013, Barry M Rhossili, Barry M Gelly Mango, Barry M Kiwi, Barry M Gelly Blueberry, Rimmel 60 Seconds Purple Reign and Nails Inc St James.

I then used both my trusty laundry pen and Barry M Black Nail art pen to do the details.

I topped it all with a coat of Seche Vite and whilst that was still drying, I placed the googly eyes (easier said than done) in the positions I wanted them, and my monsters were born.

Which one is your favourite Meanie? I like the red one on the pinkie the best.

Pumpkin Faces using She Sells Seashells Vinyl Stencils

Every year since starting my blog, I have missed out on doing Halloween nails and every year it makes me sad :( so this year I am starting the Halloween nails just a little early.

So my first Halloween nails are these simple Pumpkin/Jack O Lantern nails, done using these Pumpkin vinyl stencils from She Sells Seashells. The vinyls are fantastic quality and the postage was really speedy. I will definitely being using them again.

This is the first time I have used vinyl stencils and they are super easy, the faces didn't come out perfectly because I, of course, put way too much polish on top of the stencil and pulled them off in a faffy way.

I also used BYS Glow in the Dark top coat to get these spooky faces.
I don't recommend this glow in the dark topcoat though, I bought it a while ago and each time I have used it, it has been disappointing. The best way to charge it is with a UV torch, it takes ages to charge to a decent amount, and the charge only lasts about 5 mins.

So this was my first ever proper Halloween mani, I've got a few more planned out.
What are you wearing on your nails for Halloween?

OPI Bargains or Fakes? Cream In My Coffee, Pearl Diver and Vampsterdam.

So when I popped into town the other day, one of the shops I really wanted to go into was The Original Factory Shop, I had received one of those little leaflets through the letterbox saying that they were selling OPI's at 3 for £10. Yes, in lots of these discount shops, the polishes they sell are normally separated quite badly and not much choice but for such a bargain it is always worth having a look. And I was really chuffed to find 3 polishes that I not only loved the look of but weren't separated at all.

Cream in my Coffee was the first one I grabbed. Its a gorgeous milky coffee/tea coloured nude. It's quite sheer and finishes really shiny. I think this is a beautiful polish and is a fab alternative to white during the Autumnal months.

Photo shows 3 coats with no topcoat.

Loot Crate Galactic Inspired Nails

It may have become obvious that I like to use my Loot Crate as a source of inspiration for nail art each month, but sometimes, it can be hard to narrow it down to just one thing or even to come up with something that is challenging. This month was one of those months.

KBShimmer Totally Tubular

Totally Tubular without a topcoat
So the blog has been a bit swatchy lately, I will get back to doing some nail art pretty soon though.
I bought this KBShimmer polish a while back when I bought Stark Raven Mad but completely forgot about it until now.

Totally Tubular is a teal crelly polish packed full of glitter. The glitter is fuchsia, blue and aqua and comes in multi sized circles, hexes and bars.

The formula was great, the polish applied nicely with no dragging or patchiness and glitter placement was no problem at all. I used 2 coats of Totally Tubular and this did not take away from the glitter while still being opaque enough for full nail coverage.

I really like the finish of this without a topcoat, it kind of has a latex rubber look to it and although not completely smooth, there were no glitters sticking up, I felt the original finish gave it a more unique look.

Totally Tubular with one coat of Seche Vite Topcoat
With one coat of Seche Vite, it was still stunning and the glitters had more of a pop against the teal base.

Totally Tubular with one coat of OPI Matte topcoat

I also tried it with one coat of OPI Matte topcoat and again, I preferred this to the glossy look.

Totally Tubular Macro Shot
This polish is available from Harlow&Co for $9 not including postage.
Or if you are in United States you can get it directly from KBShimmer for $8.75.

Have you bought any of the polishes from Kbshimmer Autumn range? I'd love to see swatches of them.

Lust List Rebooted

I haven't done a lust list in an absolute age, almost a year I think and I thought it was about time I showed you what is in my lustiness right now. Of course, if I told you everything I was lusting after in one post it would probably go on for days and days so it is just a few of the things that are right at the top of my list at this moment.

I'll start with the nail related items that are on the list just because they are a little bit more relevant to what my blog has been lately.

Freckles Polish: Kicking Up Leaves and Pumpkin Pie

I recently showed you the first polish I bought from Freckles Polish, Caipiriniha, a gorgeous green holo. So when I heard that Julieann (Freckles Polish) was releasing 2 new collections, I vowed I would buy at least one from each collection, and that I did. I bought Kicking Up  Leaves from the Autumn Dreams Collection and Pumpkin Pie from the I'm Spooked Collection.
