I've Been Slimed!!! Ghostbusters Ectoplasm Nails

I've been pretty slack on the Halloween nails this year most years, but I really wanted to do something fun like this just so I could use the little Ghostbuster logo on the MyOnlineShop MJXLII stamping plate. Yes, that plate is amazing.

I started with a base Barry M Cotton, then I stamped using Freckles Polish Pogo Stick and Bundle Monster plates BM-509 (waves image) and BM-610 (splat/spray image) and the Ghostbusters logo was stamped using Polished By Leanne Fall-ing for You so that has a bit of sparkle too.

The lighting is weird today and capturing just how awesome this looks was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be, the holo sparkles even though it has been stamped, which you can kind of see on the index finger in this close up photo but this is definitely a case of photos not doing a mani justice.

Until of course...

...the best photo of this mani I could ever possibly take. Freckles Polish Pogo Stick is THE perfect ectoplasm polish because it is bright green and sparkly in daylight but it is also UV reactive, and has this amazing glow when the UV torch hits it.

Wait, that's no ectoplasm, that's nerdgasm! Well, it might as well be. Ok, that joke was both lame and disgusting but I in no way apologise for it!

I'm actually thinking of wearing this for a while but also possibly putting the same design on my toes too because then it was last forever. Or at least for a long time, maybe a couple of weeks, I don't know, longer than my mani anyway.

Halloween is 2 days away, have you got anything planned? Me and Ki will be watching fun Halloween movies over the next few days, I plan to introduce him to Death Becomes Her, I want to introduce him to High Spirits but I think maybe he is still too young for it, even if I had already watched it like a hundred times by his age, I think there is just too much tuppin'!

When there's something strange, in your neighbourhood, who ya gonna call.....

Born Pretty Store 6 Piece Dotting/Water Marbling Tool

This tool from Born Pretty Store looked good to me because it was basically called a water marble tool, which to me said that if I had this tool, it would improve my water marble skills. There are hundreds, maybe even thousands of variations of the standard dotting tool sets but these one is more of a streamlined version.

Both ends screw off and 6 other attachments slide out, each one a different size, ranging from very thin and pointy to large and round. The thin and pointy one is the one that I have used today, it is perfect for creating patterns in water marbles and should help achieve that perfect marbled nail art, I hope!

I already had KBShimmer PT Young Thing on my nails so I chose 2 polishes to water marble with that would look fab over it, Barry M Sparkling Amethyst was just sparkling away at me from the corner of my desk, so I chose that and a clear polish from Poundland, then I went to work with the tool. Yeah this is about the extent of my drag skills, I always try to drag it like all those videos I have watch on YouTube and Instagram but it never goes quite right. It's still pretty though, look at the sparkles and ignore the state of my jar, it hasn't being treated well, I'm so ashamed.

I'm back to nubbins again, I love long nails but sometimes they make things difficult, like opening yoghurts or not scratching chunks out of my face, so it is nice to come back to nubbins every now and then. Luckily it's less of a canvas to have to get a decent swirl on. Unluckily, I forgot to apply the peel off on my fingers and only realised the moment I pulled my fingers out after the dip, so yeah, it was fun trying to get that purple off almost the entire length of every finger. o_0

The tool works great though, my marbling skills still leave a lot to be desired but it did make the dragging process a little easier. I did find that if you have the other attachments stored inside at the time of marbling, it does make the tool very unbalanced as the attachments move around inside, so I would recommend taking those out. Other than that, it's great, the grips on it make it easier to hold, it's not too heavy and because it is metal it's very easy to clean.

Sadly it didn't improve my dipping and dipping hand positioning, but I think this marble is still one of my best! It could be because these two polishes are stunning in every way shape or form, but I'd like to think I have improved slightly.

You can get this tool here for £2.54/$3.89 and get 10% off your Born Pretty Store shopping spree with my code CBAQ10, it's free postage and Christmas is only 58 days away so treat yourself.

Born Pretty BPL-030 Stamping Plate

Look at this Born Pretty Store lace pattern stamping plate, it's perfect. You want lacey nail art, pick a pattern! This plate from their large stamping plate collection has 6 different lacey patterns on it, all with quite different and intricate designs.

It instantly made me wish I had a sheer black polish and thanks to the lovely Christa, who gave me a tip on how to make my own, I managed to get a pretty perfect black lace mani.

This is how it turned out. To make the sheer polish, I bought a clear polish from Poundland, then I dropped in 5 drops at a time of Barry M Matte Black, testing it after the 5 to see if it was dark enough but still sheer. I didn't want to push it and so I made one that needs 2 coats to look like this. I then stamped over with Konad Black.

The plate itself is flawless. As with all of the large plate range, it is a metal plate that comes on a plastic backing, the images are etched at the right depth and does not have any marks or imperfections.

You can find this plate here for £2.34/$3.59 and don't forget to use my code CBAQ10 to get 10% off your basket amount when shopping with Born Pretty Store.

Hope your Monday didn't suck.

Here is another one of those KBShimmer beauties I bought from Harlow&Co. This one is You Go Ghoul, it's a sort of black jelly base packed with purple, pink and orange glitters in different shapes and sizes and it is absolutely perfect for this time of year.

Inspired by Loot Crate: Back to the Future Hover Board Nails

Today is Back to the Future day, the day when Doc Brown, Marty and Jennifer travelled into the future to save their kids. I don't know about you but there are three things Marty's 2015 that I am still waiting for, the instant/hydrated pizza, self tying shoe laces and of course, the hover board. At 4.29 today the entire Back to the Future franchise will take place completely in the past and that kind of makes me a little sad.

The Back to the Future movies are some of my all time favourite movies, because obviously they are. The Mattel hover board from the movie is awesome and lets be honest, something that everyone would love to have and even though we are close to hover technology becoming a reality, it won't quite be like this one.

I was planning on doing some hover board nails for Back to the Future day and then this awesome hover board replica was in this month's Loot Crate and it seemed perfect to do my Inspired by Loot Crate nails on Back to the Future day, kind of killing two birds with one stone.

These turned out way more awesome than I thought they would and I actually freakin' love them! I shall be proudly wearing them while indulging in a Back to the Future marathon later on.

Polished Used: Barry M Berry Ice Cream, Barry M Rhossili, Barry M Key Lime, Barry M Dragon Fruit, Barry M On Your Marks, Ciate Red Hot Chilli, Barry M Spring Green. I also used an image from Moyou Pro Collection 10 and the Barry M white nail art pen for details. Yes that is a lot of Barry M polishes but so many of the polishes were the perfect shade.

The thumb nail turned out to be my favourite nail, I love how the Mattel circle looks, no I didn't write Mattel, I just did some little squiggles, tiny writing is so hard, evidenced by the abomination that is the words Hover and Board on my middle nail.

Anyway, I expect you all to watch the Back to the Future movies at some point today with pizza and Pepsi while wearing a body warmer, sneakers and a holographic hat.

Loot Crate: TIME

This month's Loot Crate was another one that I was excited for based on the theme, TIME was not only going to be filled with some of our favourite time traveller related items but was also 100% exclusives! The magazine art was, as always, amazing, and while I am still waiting for the art to be included as a poster or pullout, we did get this... the centre of the magazine was a card fold out pullout featuring the BTTF DeLorean license plate. The page with the Doc Brown quote on would be left behind if you ripped along the perforation so I didn't do that, I pulled the staples out very gently so it was all one piece because it just looks awesome with the added quote.

You might also notice that my post is super early this month, my crate arrived with me on the 15th, I hadn't received any tracking info or anything and I thought they only shipped on 18th/19th, not that I am complaining about it being early, in fact I am keeping my fingers crossed it's like this from now on because I didn't get spoilered at all and it takes away all the postman stalking, they are starting to get a bit creeped out by it I think.

So let's have a look at the exclusive goodies from this month.

KBShimmer Run! It's the Coppers! Swatch

Here is another absolute beauty from KBShimmer. This is 'Run! It's the Coppers!' a gorgeous copper polish with a linear holo that is super strong like PT Young Thing.

There is nothing much to say about this other than it is close to perfect, it is a little bit sheer and did require 3 coats to be fully opaque. It applied smoothly, dried quickly and to a smooth and semi matte finish.

Unlike PT Young Thing, even though the holo in Run! It's the Coppers! is super strong, it doesn't seem to show through in the normal dingy daylight but it does look like a really pretty copper polish.

It does come alive under artificial light and sunlight though and has a very orange glow look to the holo and a perfect rainbow. I don't think I could be anymore in love with these holos from KBShimmer, they are pretty much perfection in a bottle and this may be my last holo from my recent Harlow&Co purchase but it is not my last polish as there are still 2 more to go.

You can find this on Harlow&Co here for $11cad/£5.47 +p&p.

Born Pretty Store 4cm Squishy Stamper + Doctor Who Nails

It is all about the battle of the stampers now isn't it? Most of us nail fanatics have spent years trying to find the perfect stampers to achieve that perfect stamped nail art, luckily for us, everyone seems to be on a mission to improve their stampers and make them the best they can. I first experienced the new stamper style with the Creative Shop Stamper and now Born Pretty Store have their very own versions.

Born Pretty Store Green Stamping Polish and a Green Halloween Mani

Born Pretty Store released their own range of stamping polishes a little while ago and this is the first one I have tried. This is the bright green one and it's a lovely lime green shade and I thought at this time of the year, it is the perfect shade for some Halloween nail art.

KBShimmer PT Young Thing Swatch

A few weeks ago, I realised, whilst pondering the meaning of life, that I hadn't done a Harlow&Co purchase in ages and obviously I had to rectify that, so I bought 4 of the KBShimmer polishes on my wishlist. This one immediately caught my eye when opened the package.

I'll warn you now, this post is a little bit photo heavy because this polish is THE most drool worthy polish EVER!! You may look at the above photo and wonder how? But what if I told you that the above photo was taken in natural light, not just that but there was no sun at the time of this photo, it was a dull and grey British day and yet the holo is popping out like a beast.

Still not convinced, Lets look at a few more photos. I'll make a believer out of you.

Infinity Crates: Fantasy

Yay! I finally have a good title pic for the Infinity Crates posts, this is a photo I took of the new box that Infinity Crates are using now. Previously, the goodies from them were sent out in plain brown packing boxes but this month marked the first month of the new and improved packaging and they look fab, very clean and professional. It did mean that the September crate was a little late because they were waiting for the boxes to arrive but it's great that they are gaining momentum now.

Enough about the boxes, lets see what was in it this month!

Arcade Block September 2015

We were pretty excited about the September Arcade Block because this month it was a Zelda themed box. Generally, the Arcade Block is it's own theme, game related stuff for gamers, which is the reason we get it but it was pretty cool to have a secondary theme. So let's have a look at what goodies we got.

Polished By Leanne Autumn Collection Swatches

Today I am going to be showing you the absolutely gorgeous Autumn Collection from Polished By Leanne. After returning from her nuptials (CONGRATULATIONS!!!) Leanne has had a bit of a relaunch with new labels and new collections. The new labels look great and her first new collection, the Halloween collection sold out super quick in less than a few hours and I wouldn't be surprised if this collection goes the same way.

The Autumn Collection consists of 4 gorgeously autumnal polishes that look great in sunlight, the shade or under artificial light. Each photo shows 2 coats with no topcoat and the entire post is pretty picture heavy.

Inspired by Loot Crate SUMMON No.2: Pikachu Nails

Did you manage to guess what the second inspired by Loot Crate mani was going to be? Of course, it had to be Pikachu nails! I know, I know, Pikachu nails have been done to death, every variation you could ever think of has been done but I adore my new hat so much I wanted to have matching nails.

The lighting went a little weird for these photos today, it's actually sunny but the combination of that and the yellow has made my skin look weirdly translucent, it is October though so maybe I am starting my transformation into something not quite human!

I used NYC Lexington Yellow for all Pikachu elements, Barry M Black for the details and Barry M Cotton and Ciate Red Hot Chilli for the Pokeball. Everything was freehanded and I'm surprised at how well it all turned out, it was touch and go for a while tbh, I even managed to get the Pokeball button round... ok roundish, but ish is closer than not.

I completely forgot to take a photo of my nails with my hat, so here is my Pikachu hat selfie à la the 90's from my Instagram.

A photo posted by Chrissie (@plus10kapow) on

Now imagine them both together!

If you haven't already seen mani No.1, aka my Hearthstone nails, then you can check them out here and you should check them out because reasons.

It's the weekend now, yay! Go nerd out, have some mead, kill some orcs or demons, recharge your batteries and be awesome! Ah who am I kidding, you're always awesome, ALWAYS!

Inspired By Loot Crate SUMMON No.1: Hearthstone Nails

Yes, you read that title right, Inspired by Loot Crate No.1! I have done 2 looks inspired by the items in this month's crate and I will put up look No.2 tomorrow.

This mani is entirely inspired by the Hearthstone stress ball. I was originally going to do a Hearthstone card back on my thumb but after 7 failed attempts, I was too annoyed and gave up on the card back, sticking to my original plan.

This is a pretty simple look to achieve, it requires blobbing of 2 shades of grey (Rimmel Grey Matter and Barry M Chai) and swirling, lots of swirling with a small nail art brush. The swirls were done using Barry M Malibu first with these swirl vinyls from twinkled T and then lots of blobbing and swirling on top.

No topcoat was used in the making of this mani, mainly because I wanted the textured and bumpy look so that it resembled the Hearthstone that little bit more.

I absolutely love how it turned out, it's simple, it's quite unique and not everyone will know what it is.

Would you wear this on your nails?
