Lady Queen Superhero Water Decals

The moment I saw these decals on Lady Queen, I needed them, so much awesome! And look, the larger Wonder Woman decal has glitter on it (you may need to embiggen to see it) I do wish they had sacrificed maybe the body WW decal and added a second Thor or Supergirl, that's pretty much the only thing that could make this decal set better.

So, as you can see, the set has 10 decals, 2 of each design, they are square and are different sizes. My nails are fairly long at the moment and the smaller ones fit well with some excess, although I don't think they are wide enough for my thumb.

Lady Queen Tattoo Style Water Decals

How cute are these tattoo style water decals from Lady Queen? They have a really rock chick vibe to them and can be included in a bright and bold design or some darker, rockier nail art.

I decided to use 2 Polished By Leanne polishes to make a red/black gradient along with the white canvas for the tattooed look.

The decals are all individually cut which makes removing and applying really easy. the sat nicely on the nail, even on the curvier parts and there was no curling or shrivelling when I applied Seche. The colours remained bright and they even show up well over dark polishes (you can just see a snippet of one on my thumb over the black)

These decals don't seem to be available anymore but you can check out their other water decals here, some which are similar and loads which are cute. Don't forget to use my code LGGT15 for 15% off your order.

Lady Queen Gold Triangle Studs

I've seen loads of people do really pretty nail art with the triangles and I wanted to give a go myself. These triangles are from Lady Queen and although I originally thought they were like the thin metal slice embellishments, they are actually closer to studs, they're quite sturdy.

This particular style of triangles came in a pack of 20 and have a yellow gold colour and I instantly wanted a nice green negative space mani.

I went for Barry M Cancun, which my camera proper hates and is actually a little bit greener and I used vinyls to do the negative space stripes.

This is one of my favourite mani's of the year so far. I stamped on 'Be Yourself' from part of a design on from the Moyou Scholar 02 plate and I think it really pulled it all together.

I did add 2 coats of Seche, mainly because on some nails, I could still feel the corners of the studs and they would likely snag on stuff.

You can find these studs here for £1.28/$1.99 and don't forget to use my code LGGT15 for 15% off your basket amount.

I should hopefully be caught up on review stuff and swatches soon and fingers crossed there will be some nerdy nails soon. How has your start to 2016 been?

Born Pretty Store Silver Mirror Polish

Go on, admit it, just like every other nail polish addict out there, you have been dreaming of a mirrored nail polish. We all hoped believed it would happen and now it has. Born Pretty Store released this polish which comes in 2 parts. You get a base coat and a polish bottle (mine were unmarked but if you buy, they are marked as far as I know) and as far as I can tell, the base coat is like an activator.

I first thought that it was a polish and a top coat, when I applied the polish this way, it just looked like a regular, boring silver polish but when I realised what it was and switched it round it was pretty freakin' cool.

I applied the base coat and let that completely dry which took a good 10-15 mins, it has barely any smell to it and is completely clear, Then I applied the polish, now the polish itself, in the bottle, looks like really thin, watery paint almost like spray paint, it's runny and you can barely see that it is silver.

Once I applied it to my nail on top of the base coat it transformed magically in front of my eyes. It only took a matter of seconds but the runny paint stuff changed into a beautiful, shiny and reflective surface. I'm being serious you guys, it was crazy and I really wish I did videos and had steady hands so I could capture the transformation.

The finish was on par with those mirrored plastic press on nails that we all made do with until the real thing happened. I'm still in awe of it.

Look at this shot! That is my reflection in my nails, that's how shiny it is! I did attempt to add a topcoat but it completely dulled the finish and turned it into a regular polish again, so it's likely that this is a special occasion polish rather than a long lasting day to day polish! I do think it would look fab with some black stamped nail art, but I forgot to try that so I'm not sure how it would react to the stamping.

I do want to mention that these polishes do not have ingredients listed and getting polishes from other countries is always a little bit of a risk, there are chemicals in other countries that have been banned here and testing standards can be different elsewhere too. I was a little dubious about wearing this polish just because of this, especially because it is something this magical, how did they do it? Why has no one else done it? I didn't have any kind of reaction but I will always be a little paranoid and you should be too, if you ever get strange feelings when wearing polish take it off immediately and wash your hands and under your nails thoroughly.

If you want to have beautiful mirrored nails too, you can find this polish here for £6.51/$9.99 (it is currently on sale) Don't forget to use my code CBAQ10 for 10% off non sale items.

What do you think of this polish? Have Born Pretty Store nailed it?

Stay Shiny...

Born Pretty Store Green Thermal Polish

It's another thermal polish today, this lovely green polish is one of Born Pretty Store's own brand. It applied like a lovely green creme and dried quickly and to a semi matte finish. I used 3 thin coats just to make sure it wasn't patchy and added one coat of Seche.

Dark Snowfall with Born Pretty Metal Embellishments

I love the wheels of embellishments, so many little pretties. This wheel from Born Pretty Store is filled with 120 tiny and thin metal decorations in 12 different designs. Some of them are gold and some of them are black and they all have a bronzey coloured back.

The postman seems to hate them of course, so when they do come through the letterbox, they end up strewn all over each other and it drives me insane, so they must be separated and sorted.

The designs are: 3 different types of snowflakes, deer/reindeer, jumping deer/reindeer, bells, stockings, anchors, pumpkins, presents, stars and cog like flowers. Most of these are Christmassy but when I saw the little black snowflakes (top right) I knew exactly the nail art I wanted to do.

Christmas may be over, but it's still Winter and I'm still holding on to hopes of even just a tiny bit of snow, just a smidge will do. Alas, it's likely to not happy, it'll just be the standard British rainy Winter that seems to be the norm now.

This is my 'still dreaming through the dreary dinginess that a snowy Christmas might still happen' mani!

I started with a base of 2 coats of Barry M Lady*, then I added the snowflakes while the polish was still wet. I only pushed down in the middle but that does mean that this mani was fairly impractical. The ends of the snowflake kept snagging on things and being dainty, thin slices of metal, they got damaged very easily, so if using them, I recommend waiting until the polish is dry and push the edges down gently and possibly adding a topcoat too.

I also added some dots using Barry M Black and a small dotting tool and it turned out very pretty, a lovely alternative to normal snowfall nail art.

If you want some of these pretty embellishments you can get this wheel on sale here for £1.43/$2.20

Don't forget that you can use my code CBAQ10 for 10% off non sale items.

Have you had snow where you are?

*FYI, Barry M no longer sell their textured polishes, and last time I posted a mani using one of these polishes I had questions on where to get them, so I searched around a bit and found that Nail Polish Direct is selling the Royal Glitter Collection for £2.95 a polish with free standard UK delivery, they also ship to Europe, delivery prices can be found on their website. (I have never bought from them so can't comment on that)

Born Pretty Store Green Shell Paper

I'll be 100% honest with you here, I had absolutely no idea what shell paper was, I literally just saw this on Born Pretty Store, saw the pretty and wanted to try it. You get one sheet and when you peel it off, it has a sticky back like a sticker, what I did also find was that you can peel it off the sticker so it is a thin foil like sheet.

I tried it with the sticky back on it. I did originally intend to do full nails of it, but that didn't work so I improvised.

It turned out pretty well. I used a base of Barry M Black and cut bits off the shell paper sheet, on the middle 2 fingers, I went for the shattered glass look, on the index and pinkie I added a small square of it and for the thumb I cut strips and laid them next to each other to try and get a full coverage. I topped it with 2 coats of Seche and even with this I did still get some lift on larger pieces, which you might notice in the photos.

Of course, having checked, I now know that shell paper is most suited to gel and acrylic nail art, which explains a lot.

It's still very pretty though and the smaller pieces away from the edges stayed flat, so you could still use it in standard nail art. It's so pretty, look at that holo, I'd love to see someone who has used this in gel nails, I bet it is stunning.

If you would like to give this a go you can buy it here for £1.40/$2.14 a sheet. There are lots of other variations that you can check out here too.

Don't forget that you can also use my code CBAQ10 for 10% off non sale items.

Hope you are all having a good start to the week.

Loot Crate LVL UP Accessories: Galaxy

In November (I think), Loot Crate offered subscribers a discount on their first month of LVLUP and of course I had to do it, just to try it out. All the stuff I had seen so far had been awesome, so I signed up to LVLUP Accessories. I was a little too late for the November goodies but was in time for December, which ended up awesome because the theme was Galaxy! Wanna see the goodies? Course ya do!

Loot Crate: Galaxy

The December Loot Crate theme was Galaxy and you know I got excited about that theme, anything from, in and around space and I'm in, I'm sci-fi yo! With the added excited of their being Star Wars items in there, it made the extra long wait over the Christmas period almost unbearable, but it arrived on 31st December and was well worth the wait.
