Born Pretty Store Mermaid Water Decals

Yes, sadly the nubbins are back and my super nails are gone, le sigh! They didn't break, thank Odin but I did have to cut them back in anticipation of bad health times. I'm hoping to be able to grow them back so I can have them long again by Christmas, hopefully, fingers crossed.

But let's talk about these water decals from Born Pretty Store. Mermaids are awesome, we all know this and mermaid nail art is also awesome and if you can be a mermaid, then you should always be a mermaid.

These decals come in 2 different colour types and are pre-sized for each finger, because of this reason, they aren't particularly great for anyone with long (phew) or wide nails. The largest decal still wasn't quite wide enough for my thumb so I used 2 decals for a half and half look to ensure the whole nail was covered.

Shell and starfish studs are also from Born Pretty Store.

The decals are easy to apply and cling to the nail quite well, they hold their colour through the whole process and remove just like nail polish. I recommend waiting about 10 minutes before adding the top coat on these as I got a bit over zealous with my index finger and lost some of the decal but the other nails were fine.

You can find these decals here for £1.40/$1.99 per sheet or £2.24/$3.18 for both together.

Radioactive Unicorn Eternal Slumber

It's another photo heavy post today so I can show you as much as possible just how bloody gorgeous Eternal Slumber from Radioactive Unicorn is. I grabbed this when it was restocked a few weeks ago because there was no way I was letting this slip through my fingers.

Wikkid Polish AbsoFlakinLutely and Dione X

OK, so by now, especially if you are in the UK, you have probably heard of Wikkid Polish, a relatively new indie polish started by the lovely Sarah AKA manigranny. The polishes available are all phenomenal and to make it even better, they are 5-free, cruelty free and vegan friendly.

I bought these two polishes that really caught my eye and I had to have in my collection and today I'm showing you them. Of course, I picked two that have beauty that is tough to capture so it's a pretty photo heavy post as I try to show you them as best I can.

Born Pretty Store Bubble Water Decals

Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles, my bubbles! Every time I think or say the word bubbles, I always instantly think of Bubbles from Finding Nemo. You'd think then that I would go for nail art that kind of incorporated that, well, I did, but it was terrible so I have ended up with this.

These bubble water decals are from Born Pretty Store and I really liked the idea of the gradient on the sheet, which is why I went with a similar style. The sheet has 67 different bubble decals on it, and it has about 3 ranges of sizes.

I think that these may be better suited to gel nail art as they are slightly thicker than standard water decals and I did get a tiny bit of lift on one or two of them. They came off the backing paper easily and kept their colour throughout the whole process. All the decals are individually cut to size so no faffing trying to get the cut right up close.

You can find these decals here for £1.40/$1.99 per sheet and they have 2 other colour options available, the white ones look kind of cool.

Don't forget that you can use my code CBAQ10 for 10% off all non sale items.

Have an awesome weekend!

Born Pretty Store Stud Picker Upper

Yes, picker upper! That's what it does, so that's what I'm calling it!

Have you ever tried to pick up studs or glitter or anything else with one of those white pencils that supposedly do the picker upper job? I have a few and I've had them for years and I have never been able to actually pick anything up with them, it always looks like it's doing it for a few seconds then you drop the stud and lose it and give up.

Nails Inc Alice and Olivia Cracker Set

I don't own many Nails Inc polishes and the ones I do tend to have come off a magazine or more recently from Poundland. So it was pretty awesome when Jim grabbed me this set in one of the Boots sales a little while back.

This is the Alice and Olivia Cracker Set and it comes with five 5ml polishes and one 14ml polish, each in a cool little cardboard cracker. It normally costs £25 and Jim managed to get it for £5!!! Now that is a proper bargain, on their website, it costs £15 for a 14ml polish and Jim paid a third of that. The only 5ml polishes I can find on the website are nail treatments but they're £8 and I suspect that would be about right. The point of this ramble is that I'm pretty happy with that price.

I Am She-Ra Nail Art

FOR THE HONOUR OF GRAYSKULL!!! I'm starting the week of with this awesomeness because I feel like absolute dirt! In the last 2 weeks there has been an increase in the intensity of my symptoms (no new ones yet, phew) and I feel like I could be heading for a relapse, but I'm prepared for it if it does happen, and there is no way that I am going to let it get to me as much as it did last time, so worry not but just in case I disappear for a while, you'll know why.

Back to this awesome mani now!

I've had this Sugar Bubbles SB 017 stamping plate for freakin' ages now, I got it from Rainbow Connection UK and I've been waiting until it called out to me and it did just that last week. I got started on this last week and posted a sneak peek of the She-Ra stamp through the stamper on my Snapchat (Plus10Kapow).

My base is Barry M Cotton and a weird half smoosh with Serum No 5 Awesome Blossom and Barry M Cotton. The middle finger and ring finger are both from the Sugar Bubbles stamping plate and are filled in using Barry M Cotton, Barry M On Your Marks, Konad Yellow Stamping polish and the gem is Danglefoot Nail Polish Moonriver.

I had to include Swift Wind in the mani because obviously!!! For him, I used the small winged (do you say winged or wing-ed? I'm a wing-ed girl personally) horse from Bundle Monster BM-615 and added a bit of colour to it. For the colours, I used Danglefoot Nail Polish Geek Out (Blue) Danglefoot Nail Polish I'm Beach Ready, Konad Yellow and Danglefoot Nail Polish True of Heart for his tail and mane. I also added in a little horn for him.

Did you notice that the first photo in the post is shiny and the middle two are matte, the this one is shiny again? I prefer it matte but then I could live with everything being matte tbh. The Sugar Bubbles stamping plate stamps beautifully and gives lovely, crisp designs. I have another one that I bought at the same time as this one and I'm not sure what to do with that one but look out for it in the future.

I love this mani a lot and it's nice to have two nerdy mani's on the blog in less than a week. Is there any nerdy mani that you are still waiting to see?

Hope you've had an awesome Monday!

Momoa Aquaman Nails

About 3 weeks ago, I reposted my Aquaman nails to Instagram because it was a year ago that I had done them and the awesome Christa said that she would like to see me re-do them but Jason Momoa Aquaman style, so I took it as a challenge. The Momoa Aquaman is very different and has a much grungier look with scales that look more like dragon scales than mermaid scales, a Daenerys hint maybe? Probably not, but I'm just going to pretend it is.

I have just realised that there is a little bit that I completely forgot to do, so that's going to bug me but I really like how this turned out. Not sure if anyone would immediately recognise it as Aquaman but hey ho. I based this mani on the promo shots that have been released so far, I couldn't find one that showed the entire outfit but it showed down to the crotch, oi oi, haha! Minds out the gutter, peoples!!!

I used W7 Night Suede for the index, ring and pinkie bases then stamped over the index and ring using Messy Mansion MM21 and Moyou White Knight, then I sponged on a little W7 Night Suede here and there and stamped a purposely patchy stamp of the same but using Moyou Black Knight.

The pinkie I stamped some polka dots from a Moyou pro plate and sponged over it with W7 Night Suede. Middle finger base is Danglefoot Nail Polish Nice Undies and the thumb base is Barry M Teal, with a bit of W7 Night Suede sponged and stamped using Moyou Black Knight and hehe 005 purposely patchy for the mermaid scales.

The rest is freehand using Moyou Black Knight, A-England Holy Grail and KBShimmer Run it's the Coppers!

So what do you think?
Are you looking forward to seeing Momoa's Aquaman in action?

Serum No 5 Awesome Blossom

This is the last of the Serum No 5 polishes that I have bought (so far) and I'll be honest, I've saved the best for last. This is Awesome Blossom, a gorgeous Barbie pink with a very very subtle shimmer in bright lights.

It applied beautifully, dried speedily and to a semi matte, ever-so-slightly gritty finish.

I added one coat of Seche to smooth it all out and give this beautiful glossy finish.

Clean up was easy and I'm pretty sure that this polish is white based because after wearing it for a couple of days, I noticed a teeny tiny bit of wear around the cuticles where the pink was no longer pink but white instead. It looked almost like when you have given a polish white undies and the Seche pulls it away from your cuticles a little, exposing it pants. So that's probably what gives it this beautiful bright colour and prevents staining.

I added this little stamp to it because I don't have a Barbie silhouette stamp and this was the closest i could find in my plate collection, but I think it works anyway.

The glow on this one is phenomenal as well. In real life, it glows a mix of pink and purple all kind of swirled together and it gives it a gorgeous fairytale look to it. I love this polish so much.

Like the others, the glow is strong and bright, lasting for days.

I will keep looking for these polishes because I've pretty much caught the bug now! Which was your favourite?

Serum No 5 Snow In Love

Eeeep, another Serum No 5 glow in the dark polish and it's a freakin crelly!!! This is the first of the two Serum no 5's that i got from a destash, it's Snow Much Love and it's a white crelly with different shapes and sizes of metallic blue glitters.

It applies like a dream, dries quickly and considering those glitters, it dries to a pretty smooth and shiny finish, I did add a coat of Seche just to smooth it out entirely.

Clean up was easy but as you can imagine with the glitters, it was a little bit tough to remove.

I did try this matte but forgot to do photos, it looks lush matte and the matte topcoat does not affect the glow at all. And here is the glow...

It's so pretty. It glows a bright blue and looks gets a cool speckled look. Like the others I have tried, it is a strong glow and lasts days after one charge.

I'm starting to get a tad obsessed now. Still lusting after that Kiwi Glow Now though. How do you like the glow in the dark polishes and is this crelly one that you would wear?

Look out for the second one from the destash later in the week, it's an absolute beaut!

Geek Fuel August 2016

This month's Geek Fuel was pretty good and it looks like they might be trying something new. For the first time in this month's box, there was an exclusive collectible pin and it looks like this might be something they are going to do every month, which is kind of cool and based on the card, it looks like the pin is enamel. I say based on the card because our pin was missing but I have contacted Geek Fuel to let them know and they are getting one sent out asap. The picture of the pin badge on the card is of the Geek Fuel logo, yes, that adorable little robot in badge form, so it now looks like I'll have to buy Ki a little cork board so he can start his pin collection too. I'd love it if they brought out loose theme's each month.

So let's dive in and have a look at the items that were in the box.

Serum No 5 Highlight

This is Highlight from Serum No 5 and is the second of the polishes that I bought from Rainbow Connection UK. I had originally bought Kiwi Glow Now? which I reeeeeaaaalllly wanted but there was a stock issue and so I chose this one instead. I'm still so sad about them discontinuing the Serum No 5 polishes, hopefully they bring them back with new polishes.

Highlight is a lovely, sparkly, soft nude which applied smoothly and looked like this in two coats but I would recommend another coat if you're not a fan of visible nail line.

It dried quickly and to a semi-matte and gritty finish. I added one coat of Seche Vite for these photos. Clean up and removal were easy.

The sparkle it has is kind of a golden shimmer and gives it almost a golden sand look to it in direct sunlight.

The glow on this one is a gorgeous bright aqua and is probably my favourite of the glows so far. Like the others, the glow is pretty strong and after one charge up, it lasted a good few days and nights.

How do you feel about glow in the dark polishes? If you aren't into them all year round, they could be very good for Halloween, one charge before you leave the house and they could will last the whole night.
