Espionage Cosmetics Heart of Serenity

Espionage Cosmetics Heart of Serenity nerdy nail wraps Kaylee Firefly Tv Series

These Kaylee Frye inspired wraps, the Booster from the Summer Nights May NEXUS, are just too awesome and pretty not to wear straight away.

Espionage Cosmetics Heart of Serenity nerdy nail wraps Kaylee Firefly Tv Series

They perfectly encapsulate Kaylee's style, from her patches to her parasol, and I obviously had to do a glossy topcoat to keep everything shiny, Cap'n!

What is your favourite Kaylee scene? There are quite a few to choose from but I do really like her scene with Wash when she asks him to tell her she's pretty. She is brave, smart and apologetically girly!

Don't forget. if you haven't bought any awesome nail wraps from Espionage Cosmetics yet, you need to pop your butt on over and check out the pretties and you can use code PLUS10KAPOW for 15% off your first order of $25 or more! If you've got a fandom, they likely have it covered! Plus, have you seen their awesome Bombsheller collab leggings based on some of their nail wraps? They are amazing, I especially like the Nerd Misfit and Pizza in Space ones.

Right, I'm off to spend my credits on a fluffy dress!

Stay shiny!

Espionage Cosmetics NEXUS: Summer Nights

The May theme for NEXUS and NEXUS Literary was 'Summer Nights' and I would be hard pressed to pick a favourite this month.

Free Spirit: a pastely, tribal and paisley print with rose gold accents

Summer Nights in the Garden: a flower print with a gold glitter trail and a glow in the dark secret

Boats Against the Current: A black Great Gatsby inspired, art deco style with gold foil and gold glitter accents

Improbable Romance: The Notebook inspired, ripples in water accented with silver glitter

Heart Of Serenity: A print inspired by the patches and umbrella that Kaylee from Firefly has.

Ok, maybe the Heart of Serenity ones are my favourite this month but if I had to pick another, it would probably be Improbably Romance, those water ripples are so pretty.

NEXUS is $15 a month +p&p, subscription packages are month to month, 3 month, 6 month and 12 month with the 12 month giving a saving of around $60.

Nail Lacquer UK Challenge- June 18 - Playstation Nails

Playstation ps1 ps2 ps3 ps4 gamer nerdy nails

I didn't post last month's challenge mani to here because it was basically just a re-do of my Hulk nails from last years FCBD but that purple was crying out for a Hulk. I'll post a photo of them at the bottom of this post so you can see them, just in case you don't follow me on social media.

Anyway, Ave of Nail Lacquer UK made up some gorgeous polishes and set up a monthly challenge. Each person chosen would get 4 polishes named after the coming months (it started with May) and you would have to do a mani using that polish for something special/good that happened to you in that month, then post them before the next month starts.

This polish is June, a gorgeous baby blue with a light green shimmer and silver flakies. The only thing special that happened to me this month was Kian's 12 birthday. He's almost a teenager, though you would think he already was with the attitude he has. He's getting into clothes, hair, girls! And he is officially taller than me. At 12! he's taller than me at 12 years old! And he is growing out of stuff the minute after you buy it, I'm not even joing on that one.

Most of Kian's birthday stuff was themed around Fortnite. He is obsessed with it and just like me and Jim, Kian is a gamer, he's our Player 3 (even if MS has pushed gaming aside a little bit for me). My original plan was Fortnite nails but I struggled to get them right (maybe in the future) so I, on a whim, decided to do these Playstation nails. I was kind of winging this and coming up with it as I went so I am really glad they came out this cute and it's all freehand.

Polishes used for the button symbols: Barry M Sugar Plum, Barry M Cyan Blue, Barry M Greenberry, Barry M Papaya, Barry M Cotton and Barry M Black Forest.
The mini controller was done using Danglefoot Nail Polish Gallifrey and it was topped off using Seche Vite.

Here was last month's beautiful polish and here are my Hulk nails using that polish.

The Incredible Hulk nerdy nails comic book Marvel

I used the Hehe Superhero 003 plate for this mani and a random Cheeky plate and Moyou plate for the thumb.

You can see Ave's original blog post about the challange here.

What special/awesome/fun things have happened to you this month?

Born Pretty Irregular Stones Wheel

I've got this lush wheel from Born Pretty to show you today. It is packed with irregular and coloured stones for 3d nail art. I had the above idea straight away, I wanted to try a kind of 'pebble beach' look. I kind of love it but I am also filing it under nail fail because I think the stones are a little bit too big for this idea.

But the stones are very pretty. In the wheel you get 2 compartments of each colour and there are 6 different colour types. They are different shapes and sizes and there is quite a lot in each compartment. For the above look I used the pastel chameleon stones. They are solid and if you are not using glue, they can often be cleaned and reused. I didn't find them catching when on the nail either, which is really good.

Because I thought my pebble beach look was a bit of a nail fail, I tried something else with the stones. This is a look I would normally do with studs but I love how the misshapen stones look and gold against black always works really well.

If you fancy giving these a go, you can find them here for £1.88/$2.59 and I would love to see what you come up with using them too. Don't forget that you can use code CBAQ10 for 10% off all non sale items on

Prism Polish The Infinity Collection

I have something awesome to show you today! The lovely Suzie from Prism Polish contacted me and asked me if I would like to swatch some polishes from The Infinity Collection, inspired by the Infinity stones in Avengers: Infinity War, and of course I said yes! Prism Polishes are stunning and I am down for anything even remotely comic book related, especially in nail stuffs. So strap in because this is a pretty photo heavy post!

Gaters Gonna Gate

Ok, so you have seen me gush about Prophecy Girl stuff before, especially this amazing Dial the Gate scarf but that's not the only Stargate items they sell. In fact, they have a new pin, that I bought 2 of and received today. And some earrings that came out recently, so I am showing you all them in today's post.

I have been a Stargate fan for ages (especially SG-1), since the movie came out in fact, and over the years I have found it super difficult to find Stargate stuff that I really liked. But Prophecy Girl are really nailing it right now and I am excited to see what Kirsty brings out in the near, and far, future.

Lilo and Stitch Nails

Disney's Lilo and Stitch beach nerdy nails

Today in 2002, my favourite Disney movie came out. Yes, Lilo and Stitch is 16 years old. I adore it and Stitch is basically my spirit animal! While I was ill during my pregnancy with Kian I watched it non-stop, much to the dismay of Jim! And we got a dog around that time, who was absolutely mental and so we called her Stitch.

I bought the BBF 77 stamping plate from Nail Artisan ages ago and I did almost this exact design on my friends nails some time last year, but I have been meaning to do it on my nails and today seemed like the perfect day to do so.

Polishes used:

Barry M Damson, Huckleberry, Blueberry Ice Cream, Dead Heat, Cotton, Sugar Plum, Strawberry Ice Cream and Majesty.
OPI I can Teal you Like Me
Wikkid Polish Stardust
Moyou Black Knight

I used Bundle Monster BM-509 for the waves and the shell and starfish are from Born Pretty Store. Then I topped it all (except the textured polish) Seche Vite. I am always really impressed with how that Stitch stamp turns out, the middle one not so much for today, I did mild twitch mid stamp and the bottom face went a bit smooshy.

Are you a fan of Stitch? I own both Lilo and Stitch movies, and I own Stitch the Movie and I am trying my darndest to get a hold of the Lilo and Stitch tv show, but failing on that one. What is your favourite Disney movie?

Born Pretty Mandala S001 Stamping Plate

I had like zero sleep last night because they were doing evening road works right near my house and the heat has already been stopping me from sleeping well so that was fun. Then today there has been hedge cutting on both sides of my house, and because of my lack of sleep I am very noise sensitive, so that has been really getting to me. I am feeling a little bit fragile tbh, I have basically zombied my way through the day and am surprised I got this nail art done let alone this post too. So let me tell you about it.

This Mandala plate is from Born Pretty and it has some really pretty images on it, my favourite is the moth (even though I hate moths) so obviously I had to use it in this mani. I knew exactly the polish that I wanted to use for the base, Level Up Lacquer Temporal Flux, it's pretty gorgeous. I wish my camera picked it up better but for some reason it just doesn't like this shade of blue.

I used one of the smaller mandala images for the half moon kind of look, stamping with Moyou Black Knight and filling the image in with Danglefoot Nail Polish Gallifrey, then stamped. I used the same combination for the moths. Can you tell where I twitched? Twice! I topped it all off with a coat of Seche Vite.

And you can't use a flakie for your base and not try it with a matte top coat? It definitely made me love it more. Matte topcoat used is Barry M.

The plate is etched perfectly and has no imperfections. The images picked up straight away, very crisp, on every type of stamper I have. There are 12 images on there, perfect for regular and reverse stamping and the images are a range of sizes.

You can find this plate here for £1.59/$2.19 and remember to use code CBAQ10 to get 10% off all non sale items.

Born Pretty Store Water Based Nail Polish Remover

You may have noticed that Born Pretty has had a revamp of their packaging lately but did you also know that they have brought out some new products to go along with it? Well this Water Based Nail Polish Remover is one of those new products.

When you open the lid, it has a raised disc, this is a pump action device that you place your cotton pad/ball onto and press down and it squirts it with the remover. I did manage to squirt this everywhere on my first go but by the second, I had got the hang of it.

The remover does have a strong smell but it is not unpleasant at all, it smells sort of flowery and is much nicer than some removers I have tried.

My favourite thing about this remover is that it is perfect for cleaning stamping plates. In the above photo, I have cleaned the left side of the plate with Superdrug Acetone Free remover and the right side with the Born Pretty remover, as you can see, the right side looks so much better. One of the reasons the left side looks cloudy is because acetone free removers have certain oils in them that play havoc with the surface of stamping plates, for that reason, you should really been using acetone remover to clean plates.

When the whole plate is cleaned with the Born Pretty remover you can see that it is super shiny and looks great. It dries really fast, like in seconds and you can actually watch it drying and the plate getting shiny. Of course, it also works great for removing nail polish from nails but that is kind of hard to demonstrate in photos so I thought this was the better way to go. It didn't leave any oils or residue on my nails and took all of the polish off. I am definitely going to have it as my go to plate cleaner though. Plus, it's a cute, compact bottle that sits nicely on my desk too.

You can find this 100ml bottle here for £5.07/$6.99 and don't forget to go check out all the other new goodies, I have some more of them to show you this week so keep an eye on the blog. Don't forget that you can use code CBAQ10  to get 10% off all non sale items.

Born Pretty- Spring Garden L003 Stamping Plate

Anyone else getting Sailor Moon vibes from this nail art? I initially wanted this to be really pastel colours but these ones ended up way brighter than I remembered and I just went with it, but I really like it. These two are Barry M Strawberry Ice Cream and Barry M Blueberry Ice Cream and I put them together over a base of Barry M Cotton using the smoosh method.

I love the images on this plate from Born Pretty, they are so delicate and I definitely don't have enough plates with images like these. I used the lotus/crescent moon image and the squiggly image with a small crescent moon at the top with Barry M Cotton for stamping. I also filled in the moons with NYC Lexington Yellow and then I stamped them onto my nail. I topped it all off with a coat of Seche Vite.

The images are etched really well in this plate, they are a good size and it stamped really well on each type of stamper. There are no imperfections.

Also, how pretty is the new packaging for the stamping plates? I love the gold on white.

You can find this plate here for £2.17/$2.99 and don't forget that you can use code CBAQ10 for 10% off all non sale items.

Espionage Cosmetics Seashells & Starfish

Although I complain constantly about the heat and the summer, I do still love a good trip to the beach, as long as I can keep cool of course, and that's what I have mostly been dreaming about this week, just getting away down to the beach for a few days. Of course, the best days at the beach are the days that start bright but end in a storm.

These Seashells and Starfish wraps from Espionage Cosmetics perfectly accompany my daydreams today. They have a kind of pearlescent finish and a very subtle blue and pink shimmer. Underneath the starfish and seashells, there are some wave details that make up a gorgeous gradient.

These were from the February Voyages NEXUS and they aren't currently available but if you are after a sea themed mani, check out these awesome Stardew Valley: Moonlight Jelly wraps. If you're buying from the Espionage Cosmetics shop for the first time, you can use code PLUS10KAPOW to get 15% off a order of $25 or more.

If you've been thinking about signing up to the NEXUS to get gorge nail wraps like these, this month is definitely the month you should be doing it. This month's theme is Warrior Woman and the reveals that have been put up so far look amazing!

Espionage Cosmetics Fibonacci

Espionage Cosmetics Fibonacci maths nerdy nails

The Fibonacci Sequence is one of my favourite things in maths! In a Fibonacci Sequence, every number after the first two is the sum of the two preceding ones. The first two numbers are either a 1 and 1 or a 0 and 1. So Fn= FN-1+ FN-2.

It is really quite easy to get a grip of once you have a basic knowledge of it and the history is quite fascinating.

Runner3 Nails

Bit Trip Runner 3 nerdy nails gamer playstation

Have you played any of the Bit.Trip Runner series? I absolutely adore them and Bit.Trip Runner 2 was perfection. They are rhythm, platformer, runner games where you control Commander Video by jumping, sliding or kicking obstacles and collecting things. They are the kind of games where you love the feeling of achieving a perfect run, or collecting all the stuff, but, it's also the kind of game that drives you crazy with anger while you try to get to the end of the level, or to that perfect, or to getting the bonus. There's a lot of anger, but also a lot of enjoyment to be had. Also, they have the best announcer, Charles Martinet, who has a pretty epic voice.

Well anyway, Runner3 (looks like they dropped the Bit.Trip) came out on PC and Nintendo Switch towards the the end of May and I played it! And I loved it! So I obviously decided to do some Runner 3 nails. and here they are!

I did a gradient base of Barry M Malibu, Barry M Cotton and Barry M Spring Green. Then I did reverse stamping on the wavy rainbow image from the Uberchic Unicorn Love plate and I used NYC Lexington Yellow, Barry M Mango, Barry M Damson, Barry M Sugar Plum and Barry M Blue Grape to fill in the rainbow. I freehanded Commander Video using Barry M Black Forest, Barry M Dead Heat, NYC Lexington Yellow and Barry M Cotton. Then I freehanded the 3 using Barry M Dead Heat. I topped it all of with a coat of Seche Vite.

I am now just waiting for it to come out on the PS4 so I can buy it on that.

What game do you love but also hate at the same time?
