Don't Box Me In!

It took me absolutely ages to come up with some kind of design for these blue rhombus glitters that I was sent by Charlie from Charlie's Nail Art. Mainly because I didn't want to just layer them all over my nails or do something that I had done before with glitters. That's when I remembered that you could make cool looking boxes with this shape glitter.

These glitters look super cool when the light hits them, and if you check out my Instagram later, I'll pop a boomerang on my Stories to show you exactly what I mean.

Products used: OPI Nail Envy
Barry M Black Forest
Seche Vite

The sun was out for a bit today so I got to see how fun these were in the sun. They aren't too thick and they sit nicely on your nail but they are a bit topcoat thirsty, I had to use 3 coats of Seche Vite on all nails, so you may want to use a gel topcoat.

This bag is only 75p!!! There are loads in there so even if you did put them all over your nails, you'd have enough for a good few manis. This version is the holographic royal blue but there are loads of other colour variations available.

Born Pretty Halloween L005 Stamping Plate

Not only am I ready for the heat to bugger off and bring the crunchy leaves and colder weather but I am also super happy that we are nearly at Halloween and it's never too early for Halloween nails, especially when they are as cute as the 2 manis I have got to show you today using this Halloween stamping plate from Born Pretty Store. Another reason to get excited about Halloween is because I get to buy Kylo another costume, hopefully. She loves dressing up (which pleases me greatly) but I am not sure if I should dress her up as a Ghostbuster again or try and get one of the Star Wars costumes for her!

First up is this reverse stamped, adorable, pumpkins and ghosts! This is definitely one of my favourite images from this plate. I do love scary Halloween stuff but I also love when they are scary cute too!

I had to put in some glow in the dark ghosts because they need to be spooky cute too. I only did it on 2 nails, mainly because these ghosts are proper diddy and it was painstaking doing just this amount but also because I really like the idea that not all of them will glow.

And obviously with this gorgeous base polish I had to add a matte topcoat and this is my favourite state for this nail art.

Items used: OPI Nail Envy
Level Up Lacquer Dark Matter over a coat of Barry M Black Forest for the base colour
Barry M Mango and Cotton for the Pumpkins and Ghosts, with Barry M Matte topcoat
Moyou Black Knight for the stamping
Wikkid Polish Blue Glow for the glow
Seche Vite

The second look is a mix of revers stamping and regular stamping over the reverse stamped image for a kind of double stamp look. I'll be honest here, I am not 100% happy with the look of this one, especially the middle nail, which is supposed to say 'Boo' but you can't really see that!

But I do love the way it glows, the ghosts look awesome and spooky cute!

Items used: OPI Nail Envy
Serum No5 Indi-Glo for the base colour (this polish is glow in the dark)
Moyou Black Knight and Barry M Cotton for the stamping
Seche Vite

The plate is fab. It has 4 full nail images, 1 XL image and 21 smaller images. All of which are great for both reverse and regular stamping. The images are etched perfectly, with great pickup and no imperfections.

You can grab this plate here for £2.26/$2.99 and use code CBAQ10 to save 10% on all non sale items over at

Minnie Mouse Nails

Did you know that Minnie Mouse is 90 this year? Yup! Her first appearance was in Steamboat Willie, released November 1928! Did you know that her full name is Minnerva Mouse and that she even has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame?

I bought these cute little bows from Charlie's Nail Art and knew instantly that I wanted to do a Minnie mani with them. When I smooshed it into my topcoat it melted away some of the bow's colour, I was absolutely gutted, I really should invest in some nail glue, know a good brand.

Other items used: Barry M Cotton, Barry M Dead Heat Barry M Red Glitter, Barry M Lychee, NYC Lexington Yellow, Moyou Black Knight, Seche Vite and Barry M Matte Topcoat. For Minnie I used an image from an XL stamping plate bought from AliExpress. I used a dotting tool for the dots and Minnie heads and a small brush for the terribly drawn mini Minnie bows.

Espionage Cosmetics Pineapple Bliss

Have I mentioned I seriously dislike summer? Yeah, I think I probably have a few times. This Summer has been pretty tough for me, so I will be glad to see the back of it and I am looking forward to crunchy leaves, blankets and bobble hats! What I will miss is all the bright and summery nail art that people have been wearing. And. low-key, I'll be bummed I can't use my Spongebob backpack in the rain :(

Today has been a gorgeous, rainy day and I have loved it. Yesterday was sunny though and I decided to go for a summery mani, the Pineapple Bliss wraps from Espionage Cosmetics.

The wraps are adorable, with little pineapples and pineapple slices that have foil accents on them. And then the pairing of sailor strips! Love it! It took me a while to decide which nails to put which on and if I wanted them glossy or matte.

This wrap set is still available here so you can grab it too, and you can use code PLUS10KAPOW for 15% off your first order of $25 or more!

Which summery nails have you been loving this month?

Matte Neon Mermaid Nails

When you need to brighten up your day you can't get any brighter than neon, I don't think, so today I am wearing these neon mermaid nails.

I used these Summer Oasis water decals from Charlie's Nail Art. These slide of the backing really easily, stayed vibrant and did not bleed any colour and bonus, did not melt when I added Seche Vite!

I then stamped with Moyou Black Knight and hehe 005 stamping plate. Then I topped with Seche Vite and a coat of Barry M Matte topcoat. And I just had to ask this adorable mermaid charm, which you can also get from Charlies Nail Art, and it's 2 for only 35p!!!

Don't forget that you can use my code CLPK10 for 10% off your order at Charlie's Nail Art

What nails would you wear if you needed a little boost?

Danglefoot Nail Polish Beam Me Up Scotty

So this happened! By which I mean, my nails are no longer ummm... long *ahem* I kind of knew it was going to happen but I got cocky thinking "they're sturdy now, look how long they've gotten, you've done all sorts to them and they should have snapped but they didn't. They'll be fine" Cue me, fixing the shed roof, thinking I have got away with it, then I turn my hand to scratch it and I see the casualties, all 3 of them! So yeah, shorter but not quite shorties but not quite long. Although I'll be honest, sometimes it can be refreshing to go back to shorter nails again.

Anyway, on to today's beauty. This is Beam Me Up Scotty from the Danglefoot Nail Polish Star Trek collection which came out a while ago. I missed out on it then and I missed out on it every time it got restocked, mostly because I kept missing the restock (forgetting) and then by the time I remembered again it had sold out. But not this time! This time I set a reminder on my phone and I got there in time, wooo!

So Beam Me Up Scotty is a holo flake base with blue shimmer and blue/purple multichrome flakes. The reason I fell in love with it is because of that blue shimmer. When the light hits it, it looks like a blue beam is going across the nail, it's just stunning and my photos absolutely do not do it justice.

The formula is a dream as always and even with the amount of pretties it has in it, it is easily buildable. This is 2 coats with a coat of Seche Vite. Communicator badge is from an AliExpress plate I bought a while ago and I stamped it using Moyou Black Knight and Born Pretty Store Gold Stamping polish. I pretty much do the same thing for all my Star Trek mani's because I have no brain and can never think of anything else. Science Division obvs!

*UPDATE: This person is still selling the Star Trek plate, it is SP-022 but there are also Pokemon and Star Wars plates!

Is there a polish that you keep missing out on but you just need to own?

Espionage Cosmetics NEXUS: Rags to Riches

The July theme for the NEXUS and NEXUS Literary was Rags to Riches. There are two sets this month that I don't have a clue about, I feel like I should know them but it just hasn't triggered. See if you can get all of them.

Just Breathe: A glossy wrap set with lots of pretty details including gold foil accents and silver glitter. This is one of the ones I am not sure about.

Tomorrow: An adorable combination of red, white and gold glitter, with a full red glitter accent, inspired by Annie.

NEXUS Literary

Sweet Pea: Inspired by The Princess and the Pea, these pretty wraps have foil accents throughout the words.

Lovely Estella: These icy blue and silver wraps have foil accents and full glitter wraps. This is the other one I am not sure on, I have a theory but it's one of those 'if I'm wrong I'll look stupid' things.

Rags to Witches & Wizards: These Harry Potter inspired wraps have part of one of my favourite ever quotes. They have foil accents on the letters and all over some of the wraps and they even feature the Hogwarts Express.

Even though I am unsure on a couple of them, all of the wraps this month were gorgeous.

NEXUS is $15 a month +p&p, subscription packages are month to month, 3 month, 6 month and 12 month with the 12 month giving a saving of around $60.
NEXUS Literary is also $15 a month +p&p with the same subscription packages available.
The NEXUS BOOSTER is $12 a month unless you are already a NEXUS subscriber, in which case it can be added to your order for $7.

Each month the NEXUS wrap sets get put to an online vote and the winner of the vote will get put into the Espionage Cosmetics shop. The loser is then, generally a subscriber exclusive but will sometimes be put in in the Mystery Wrap sets.

If you love the idea of getting cool, exclusive wraps to your door every month, then pop on over to subscribe, August's theme is Vampires (ooooooooh, I cannot wait!) and you know there will be some awesomeness in there!

Barry M Molten Metals- 4 New Polishes Added to Range

The Molten Metal range from Barry M is probably my favourite range they have ever done (yes, that includes the Royal Glitter collection) because this range is getting vast and with each release they manage to stay on trend, so I've been pretty excited to see what they come out with. And of course I had to buy these 4 when I saw them on their Instagram.

With this release, 4 new polishes came and they are slightly different to what we already have in the range. Barry M themselves describe them as chrome-effect with a mirror-shine foil finish.

Each photo is 2 coats with no topcoat. Each polish has a great, light formula that dries fast and to a shiny, smooth finish.

Financial Crisis Nails

We are truly in the darkest timeline so I thought that these Financial Crisis water decals were pretty apt for the times we're in. Plus, I am already feeling all the Autumnal colours, my body is ready for Summer to end.

I got these nail wraps in my recent purchase from Charlie's Nail Art. They are a one sheet water decal that you cut bits from and have to shape and size them yourself. I don't always get on with these sheets because of twitchy mctwitcher but I didn't do too bad this time. I was however a little heavy handed with the Seche Vite, so I did get patches of melting but I love how it looks, it kind of fits with the theme, don't you think?

Of course, this sheet was super cheap at only 89p and you can find them here!

The gorgeous polish I have used is OPI What Wizardry Is This?, it's definitely one of my favourites and I am so ready for textured polishes to come back. Are you a fan of them too?

Don't forget that you can use my code CLPK10 for 10% off your order!

Slytherin Sweater Nails

Harry Potter Slytherin nerdy nails

Back in May, I posted a few throwback photos to Instagram Stories of some of my very first nail art and I asked if there were any that anyone liked but thought I could improve on now that my skills have advanced a little bit. Daisy (a fellow nerd) said that she liked my Slytherin nails but would like to see how I would do them now. So that is what I have done today.

I think with my original Slytherin nails, I tried to fit too much into it and it just looked overall too busy, in my opinion. So for this mani, I decided to go a little simpler, basing my look on Slytherin cardigans and sweaters. I started with a base of Barry M Cardamom, then I stamped the lines on using Barry M Silver Foil and Bundle Monster BM-411. For the Slytherin badge I used the hēhē plate 027 from the Harry Potter collection and I stamped first using Moyou Black Knight and then on top but slightly off using Barry m Silver Foil.

Instead of having a Unicorn as my preferred Patronus, I used my Patronus from Pottermore, which is a Sparrowhawk, and this was the closest I had in stamps and you can find this bird on the Moyou Gothic Collection plate 01. I stamped it in Barry M Cotton first, then again with KBShimmer PT Young Thing.

I topped it all with a coat of Seche Vite and then topped that off with Barry M Matte topcoat to complete the look!

Which Slytherin mani did you prefer? Is there any other nail art that you would like to see me either do differently, or recreate?

Korres Gel Effect Steel Blue and Peony Pink

Ugh, I had my bloods done today to watch out for that sneaky brain infection and not only does that trigger my anxiety about it, every time, it's also a pretty tough day in general just because of the walking, the actual blood taking and so on... So, I have some pretty swatches for you today.

These Korres polishes were also sent over by Rhiannon from Sparkle PR and I had barely even heard of Korres before, let alone used them but now I am pretty into them. Lets have a look at why!

The Korres Gel Effect Nail Colours have sweet almond oil to ensure a luminous and long lasting gloss shine for up to 10 days. The colours are super rich, intense and chip resistant.

Steel Blue

Steel Blue is a gorgeous deep, navy blue. The formula is fantastic and applied really nicely, helped of course by the fact that the brush is wide with a rounded end.

The formula has high pigment but did require 2 coats to be opaque.  It dried fast and to a smooth and super shiny finish. It was easy to clean up and easy to remove. I did not experience any staining.

Peony Pink

Despite the name Peony Pink, what I see is an almond nude polish, maybe with a slight lean towards pink but it is barely visible and no one else could see pink in it either. That doesn't mean I don't really love this polish.

Peony Pink is quite sheer and did require 4 coats for this level of opaqueness, but the formula is super light and you can barely notice those 4 coats. I believe this polish would be perfect for jelly sandwiches, are those even still a thing?

It dried fast and to a high gloss finish. It was super easy to clean up and remove.

On the note of the Sweet Almond Oil, my nails did feel a little more nourished after wearing this polish for a few days but it is hard to tell with how much cuticle oil I use. I did however wear this for a good few days without topcoat and keeping in mind that I twitch and hit random things and that we were fixing things in the garden, and it didn't chip once!

The Gel Effect range has 18 nail colours and is also 10-free, these are available for £8 a bottle from Look Fantastic, which is not a bad price for pretty decent polishes.

Have you tried any Korres polishes?

Butter London Patent Shine 10X Flusher Blusher and Bang On!

I was very kindly sent these Butter London polishes by Rhiannon from Sparkle PR. They are Flusher Blusher and Bang On! from the Butter London Patent Shine 10X collection, the first 10in1 nail polish made with Patented Shock Resisting Polymer Technology, combining gel-like wear with a nail strengthening formula. They are high shine, chip free, richly pigmented and should last up to 10 days.

Now I don't know about the 10 days things, I can't remember the last time I wore the same polish for 10 days straight but they have a great pigment and a very glossy finish. Being 8 free is always a massive bonus and any polish that includes nail strengthening ingredients is hard to resist. These are also Gluten free and Vegan.

Believe it or not, I only own 1 Butter London polish and I have had it for ages, so I was quite happy to see a wide and curved brush that made application right up to the cuticle as easy a possible.

I'm feeling all of the Emojis!

These emoji water decals were one of the items I ordered from Charlie's Nail Art Supplies and today I needed some quick nail art because I'm not feeling great (shocker, amirite?!) and I had to take off my Hunter nail wraps <insert crying emoji here>

These wraps are super easy to use because they are pre-cut to just around the edges of the image so all you have to do is dip in water for 10-20 seconds, slide off the backing paper, place on your nail and add top coat.

The colours are bold and would look great over most colours, although I am not sure how they would look over black. There was no colour run, no lifting or curling, and when I applied Seche Vite they didn't melt or shrink, which is always a bonus.

You get 33 decals on the sheet, varying sizes and faces, and there is plenty to do both hands in the same way that I have done it and not have them the same. Plus, at 99p they're a pretty good price. you can grab these here and don't forget that you can use my code CLPK10 for 10% off your order.

Polishes used: Barry M Cotton and Wikkid Polish Gold Dust.

Espionage Cosmetics Cartridge Compacts

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaagggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh! I am hoping this puts my excited screams into text. Today, my Espionage Cosmetics Cartridge Compact pre-order bundle arrived. I have been excitedly waiting impatiently for these since the day they were announced and let me tell you, the wait has been worth it because they did an amazing job. These compacts are perfect and my favourite thing ever!

This is everything that came in my package, let me explain it. Back in December, I pre-ordered and paid for the 'Legend' compact bundle. Now, that was a while go and I can't remember exactly what that included but I think it included one set of nail wraps and one eyeshadow or lip blush and I think I chose the Barrel Blast wraps then the Barrel Blast lip blush.

The pin badge (which is fucking adorable) and the Nerd Makeup sticker were promised to all pre-orders and the because there were a few problems along the way (understandably, as they were trying to perfect it) each pre-order got 1 extra, random Cartridge Compact (I got the Blox one) and then 2 sets of exclusive nail wraps, I got Nom Nom and Marshmallow Vacuum. All of them are equally adorable, as is the packaging, and the whole package may have actually made me ded!

Also included were 4 empty shadow plates that fit in the compacts for DIY'ing some in, which I am definitely going to do at some point, I might have one as just lip balms, and an Espionage Cosmetics branded nail file.

Any eyeshadows, and I am not sure if I had any included in my pre-order so it'll be a nice surprise if I did, are currently delayed due to a manufacturing problem and will  be sent out as soon as they are able, but Espionage Cosmetics has kept us well informed all the way so I never felt like I was in the dark about any of it.

Now strap yourself in for a barrage of photos that I just had to take!

Espionage Cosmetics: Hunter

Espionage Cosmetics Hunter nerdy nail wraps Predator Movies

If it bleeds, we can kill it!

Today's nail wraps are AMAZING! Even Jim lost his shit when he saw them. In fact, he came up with this photo idea, and I love how it turned out, it's one of my favourites so far. These were in the most amazing delivery from Espionage Cosmetics this week and I couldn't not put them on almost immediately.

Lets have a look at them in their packet.

We're bad guys, it's what we do!

Charlie of Charlie's Nail Art Supplies very kindly sent me some of their products to review. In case you haven't heard of Charlie's Nail Art Supplies, they are based in the UK and have super low prices. They sell nail art stuffs from glitter to water decals, to embellishments.

As you can see, this gorgeous Unicorn Glitter mix caught my eye first.

In my front room lighting, the glitter mix looked white and blue in the bag, so I had a mani all planned out, but when I started applying it to my nail it showed more as pink, so I quickly changed what I was doing and luckily Harley was close by.

The mix is in a 4g bag and has fine glitters, along with rhombus, hexagon  and circle glitters and some mini stars. There are holos, matte and iridescent and you end up with a very sparkly, very pretty mani.

I started with a base of Barry M Cotton, then once that was dry I added a coat of Poundland Clear Polish and stuck my finger into the bag, pressing my nail into the glitter. Trust me when I say, this was the safest way to avoid me and my entire room looking like a fairy threw up on us. I was one twitch away from disaster. But it worked really well and I managed to cover my entire nail with one dip.

Then I used a fan brush to sweep off any excess and went in with topcoat, Seche Vite as usual. Ok, now here is where you could be swayed to use gel topcoat with this instead. It is very topcoat thirsty. In my photo, you can see that it looks kind of textured/messy. This was with 2 coats of Seche and I kind of like the textured and chunky look so I left it like that. But if you like things to look and feel  smooth, you might want to go for gel or you will be using maybe 3 or 4 coats of topcoat altogether.

4g might not sound that much but you will definitely get a few manis out of this bag and that's if you use it on all nails. If you are just using it as an accent, it's going to last for ages.

You can grab this glitter mix here for 75p but definitely check out the rest of the shop as it really is super cheap and as a bonus, use code CLPK10 for 10% off your order.
